What is a space?
A space is a personal Web site where you can easily publish your text and photos, as well as interact and network with others.
What can I do with my space?
All sorts of things. You can write a blog, post photos, create lists, add gadgets and RSS feeds, communicate with others using Windows Live Messenger, and get to know the friends of your friends. You have control over who can look at your space: your friends, your Messenger contacts, or the whole world. You can view and add to your space from whatever Web-enabled computer or e-mail-enabled device is convenient—your laptop, mobile phone or handheld. Finally, it's your space—make it look the way you want by choosing the colors, designs, and themes that best reflect your individual style and personality.
How much does a space cost?
Nothing—your space is free.
What is a blog?
A blog is short for “Web log.” It’s an online journal of entries. For example, you can write about movies you've seen, parties you've gone to, or anything else that’s on your mind. Add photos to any blog entry, and it can become even more interesting.
You can add blog entries whenever you want: a couple times a week, every day, whenever you're feeling inspired. If you're interrupted while making an entry, save it as a draft and finish later. Before you publish your entry, you can preview it first to make sure it looks okay. You also can edit blog entries you've already published. When you edit a blog entry, the original date and time the entry was published does not change.
While you can write about almost anything, your blog must follow the Windows Live Spaces Code of Conduct.

How can I personalize my space?
It's easy to customize your space reflect your own personality. You can add different content, and change the look of your space. Here's what you can do:
- Add modules and gadgets. Photos, lists, a blog – all the stuff on your space is organized into modules. You can add as many modules as you want to your space. You can also select from a variety of gadgets.
- Select a template. Templates are a quick way to instantly add modules, colors, and more to your space. You can add a template, and then modify your space from there.
- Try a theme. If a template's not for you, you can choose from over 60 themes to add coordinated colors, fonts, and background images to your space.
- Change the layout. The layout determines the number and size of columns on your space.
- Move modules around. You can move modules to different columns or positions in a column to make your space look the way you want it.
To try all of these options, sign in to your space and click Customize.
How do I know how many people are looking at my space?
Your statistics page (under Settings) shows how many “hits,” or visits, your space has received.
How can I expose my space to a wider audience?
You can syndicate your space by using Really Simple Syndication (RSS). If you syndicate your space, it can be read by an RSS news reader or aggregator. People who use RSS will get updates to your space as soon as you publish them. When you syndicate your space, your blog, lists, photo albums, and music lists are all syndicated.
What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a technology you can use to have information sent to you, rather than having to go look for it. Many Web sites, including Microsoft Web sites, offer RSS. Learn more about RSS .
