Windows Live Toolbar 3.0 now supports custom buttons and Smart Menus to help you get to information faster. You choose the links and web feeds that go in your custom buttons. With Smart Menus, you highlight text on a Web page that you want to learn about (so you can get things like definitions and stock quotes right on the page).
Does the Windows Live Toolbar conflict with other toolbars?
Windows Live Toolbar works well with other major toolbars. If you install both Yahoo! Toolbar and Windows Live Toolbar on Internet Explorer 6, then one toolbar’s tabs appear inside the other’s as a sub-tab (you can prevent this by turning off tabbed browsing for one of the toolbars).
How is Windows Live Toolbar different from MSN Search Toolbar?
Windows Live Toolbar does everything that MSN Search Toolbar does and then some. For example, you still get protection from Web annoyances with Popup Blocker. But you also now get Microsoft Phishing Filter to block Web sites that may be trying to steal your personal data.
What gets installed on my machine?
It depends on what you want to install. The standard installation includes a toolbar at the top of your Internet Explorer browser. With the Windows Desktop Search option, a search box will appear on the right side of your task bar, next to your system tray. If you have Microsoft Outlook® installed, you will also find a toolbar in Outlook.
How long does it take to install the Windows Live Toolbar?
The standard installation only takes a couple of minutes with a broadband connection. If you customize your toolbar, it may take a little longer, depending on how many additional features you choose to include.
How much space will the Windows Live Toolbar use?
The standard installation uses about 23 MB of hard disk space—this can grow or shrink depending on what you want to install.If you install Windows Desktop Search, we recommend that you have 500 MB of hard disk space.
Is Windows Live Toolbar compatible with Internet Explorer 7?
Windows Live Toolbar works with the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 7. It does not work with the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer 7.
Is Windows Live Toolbar compatible with 64-bit editions of Windows?
Windows Live Toolbar works in Windows Vista 64-bit and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition if you use a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 6 or 7.
Is there a version for Firefox?
Currently, Windows Live Toolbar is only available for Internet Explorer 6.0 and above.
What is Windows Live Toolbar’s privacy policy?
